An interesting site all in all ... your experiences as a first year teacher are nearly identical to an acquaintance of mine.

Concerning God using a tornado ... He says he can send a man from a far off land to do his bidding, so He could probably use one. He is certainly "blamed" by people for "Acts of God". Mankind has rebelled and we each at times have said we can "do it ourselves". My observation is that we then turn to blame Him when something happens that we can't control, and the things we can control we little think about the consequences, until the inevitable shortcomings of our own wisdom are revealed with time.

Are we each rebellious children, saying "I do it myself" to our own demise, in arrogance and pride? Your post on the true nature of reality is interesting. If we truly see as through a glass darkly, then reality can only be revealed by the One who spoke it into existence. His view of reality is perfect. Perception and meaning will only be found accurately and with Truth as we yield our own perspective to His.

Susuan, that was just a little house centipede, they're harmless. I pick them up all the time. :)

I don't see the issue with centipedes, I love them. I just scoop them up in a cup and put them outside cause they eat other bugs.

OMG You are my hero. My hubby is in love with you, whoever you are. Ignore the ignorant comment of Tone.

I second Meghan, I really did laugh hysterically with husband at your description and we are now out the door in search of the mystical brown thingies.

Thank you so much.

I don't think anything quite makes me angry like luxury items. That Sultan's haircut could have been someone's yearly salary. That $100,000 hat could feed the entire population of Africa for a week, I assume.

I read this the other day, and I don't know if I ever noticed it before. Blew my mind. "Behold, the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you kept back by fraud, are crying out against you, and the cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord of hosts." -James 5:4 (vv 1-5 are all surprising and shocking)

For some reason, Keith Ellison has never resonated with me as a person worth communicating with. I think it has something to do with him casually dismissing people or viewpoints like what just happened here. Maybe try Amy Klobuchar?

As for the Piper business, I tend to agree with you, but it is interesting. I almost said that if God wanted to get the attention of Lutherans about their doctrinal debate, He would have struck the place they were meeting or a prominent ELCA church. But that's pretty much exactly what happened. So it's a very interesting coincidence. Especially considering tornadoes very rarely touch down in metropolitan areas, particularly downtowns.

I would definitely use the webform not only to reiterate your request that he consider legislation on smaller class sizes (Yes! My mom also works in the public schools, and this has become a huge strain on her and soooooo many other teachers) but also comment on your frustration about being labeled "Ms." and having your point written off/ not appropriately addressed. And I would also suggest a follow-up phone call. As much as our generation has begun to perceive the telephone to be an antiquated form of communication, I understand that it is still the advised method for getting through to one's congressperson. You might still get a form response, though. That sucks. I like Keith Ellison, but I don't like how politicians, in general, tend to respond to constituents.

I went to wash my hands and one was in my sink (I guess it crawled up the drain?). So, I got the Lysol and gave it a bath in that, and when it still moved one of it's antennae I got the OxyClean and gave it a bath in that.

I know it's mean, but please. CRAWLING UP MY DRAIN? Hell no.
